'Hair Wash' - How Often and Type of Shampoo to be Used.

Shampooing is done to wash the hair and clean the scalp from dirt and oil. The important question is how often should it be done? Well there isn't an exact answer to this question because it depends on the type of hair, personal hygiene and lifestyle. People who workout in the gym, live in a hot and humid climate or a polluted region, need to wash hair frequently.

But the Golden Rule for maintaining healthy hair is 'Less Washing'.

Yes, it's true. Lesser you wash your hair, better results you get. Frequent shampooing often strips away natural oils and makes your hair dry and lifeless. Hair's natural oil is important for healthy scalp and hair. Also, daily washing gradually turns into a habit and becomes difficult to overcome. Over washing will gradually result in dry, brittle and weak hair.

Oily Hair

People with oily hair need to wash with a mild shampoo 2 to 3 times a week to remove excessive oil and reduce itchiness. Shampoo should be free of sulphates and conditioning agents.

Dry Hair

Dry hair should be washed once or twice a week using a sulphate free shampoo having moisturising property.

Normal Hair

Normal hair type does not need special care and can be washed when needed using a mild shampoo.

Double Shampoo

Its important to double cleanse your hair. First wash will clean your scalp from sebum, dirt and product build up. Second wash will thoroughly treat the hair.

Dry shampoo

They are also being highly used these days. Some people swear by these. They come in handy when you don't have time to wash your hair. Dry shampoos makes your hair feel and smell fresh by eliminating oiliness.

So it's better to stay away from over washing your hair for healthy and strong hair.

Take care and keep Blinging.
